about dave "echo" schurtman, creator of the blurry world

There is a thin line between cheesy and clever, Dave draws with that line. He was born in a time he can’t remember because he was too young but grew up in New York City and now resides in Princeton, NJ. Dave comes from an abstract painting background. He uses the energy and random emotion in the rendering concepts of his drawings. He also uses the mindset of an abstract artist in the fact that he believes in “happy accidents”. The cartoons are spontaneous, the first draft lies underneath the intense pencil smudged shadows. The time between the first draft and the final draft is non-existent, thus maintaining the burst of creative output and that remains documented as the final piece.

Why “the blurry world”?
After being beaten down by the speed of a world that has no space for anyone, you could step back and just watch the world become blurry. Dave is inspired by this world that is amusing and horrifying. His cartoons are meant to affect the viewer on many levels should they choose to dig or just laugh at funny images in dull situations.
